We love marriage books. We regularly read marriage books to help us understand the difference between men and women, how to communicate, how to have great sex, and how to love and respect each other. But even the best marriage books cannot change a marriage if the couple is not changed from the heart.
The Bible changed our marriage because it changed us. We love what Theologian Karl Barth wrote, "I have read many books, but the Bible reads me." Good change and transformation is possible in our individual lives, and marriage, through the power and truth of God's word. When we allow the truth of God's word to change us from the inside out, we'll experience a beautiful, awesome transformation in our marriage as well. The Bible is alive and powerful...it exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Hebrews 12:2 We will sink or swim in our marriage depending on how much we allow the Word of God to transform our thoughts, desires, and motivations.
