Lost that Loving Feeling

Updated: Nov 17, 2018

Every marriage has seasons when you wonder where the love is. I don't "feel" in love with my spouse. It's in those seasons when you need to grab on to the covenant commitment you made to one another on the wedding altar and not let go. Covenant commitment is not as romantic, but its what keeps your feet planted during the tough times. A covenant is a Biblical word that refers to two people being bound together. It means to cleave or stick together like Super glue. When you make a covenant commitment to each other you are asking God to super glue you together. When you are in a season where you have lost "that loving feeling", take an assessment of what is really going on in your life. Is there a new baby? Have you not connected at a deep level lately because you have been too busy? Has there been hurtful words or choices that has caused an emotional wall? What has brought us out of this season is taking out our wedding vows and reading them to each other. That "Super glue" reminder is what we needed to get back on track.

TRUTH TO PONDER: For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife and the two shall become one flesh.

DISCUSS TOGETHER: What is the difference between a covenant commitment and "trying" to see if you are compatible?

TRY THIS: Take out your wedding vows and read them out loud or write them out again. Lean on the covenant commitment you made to each other, and ride out the storm by reminding each other what you said on your wedding day.
