Resurrection Power Every Marriage Can't Live Without

Power is something we take for granted in our everyday life. We plug our cell phone into the power source, turn on the oven, start our car and don't think much about it. Power is readily available to us. Without power, we couldn't operate the things we rely on.

One morning a few weeks ago, I put a bagel in the toaster. I came back a few minutes later ready to enjoy a bagel and cream cheese, but it wasn't toasted. I put the bagel back in the toaster and came back to discover it still wasn't toasted. The problem: I didn't check to make sure the toaster was plugged in. We can't have power if we don't plug into the power source.

Maybe you need help to overcome your past, help to love your spouse, help to communicate, help to forgive, help to see healing in your marriage. You have tried to do it in your own strength and it isn't working. Did you know that you have an unlimited source of power to help you in your marriage? But not just any power. The Bible says in Ephesians,

I pray that you will begin to understand how incredibly great His power is to help those who believe Him. It is that same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated Him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in heaven. – Ephesians 1:19-20

As Christians, this is the time we celebrate the cornerstone of our Christian faith - the death and resurrection of Jesus. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is available to help you in your marriage. We need Jesus' resurrection power to love our spouse. We need Jesus' resurrection power to forgive. We need Jesus' resurrection power to overcome our past. It's a power we can't live without.

What areas in your marriage do you need help (to tap into Jesus' resurrection power)?

What have you tried to fix on your own that hasn't worked?

As a couple, take some time to invite Jesus to fill you His resurrection power this Easter.
