Take the Prayer Challenge

There is nothing that makes us love a man so much as praying for him. William Law

Years ago we were given some advice that has had a profound impact on our marriage. A mentor told us that he and his wife have prayed together everyday for over 40 years. Even when he traveled, he would call his wife and pray with her. He encouraged us to do the same - to not miss a day of prayer even if it was for just a minute or so. This advice has done more to keep our marriage beautiful and durable than anything else. Why?Because there is something supernatural that happens when you take time to pray together as a couple. You will grow closer together, love each other more deeply, and forgive more easily. Now, we get it. We know what you are thinking - you are busy, you don't have time, and besides, it is awkward to pray with your spouse. We thought so too - until we took the prayer challenge. We joined hands in prayer, even on those days when we didn't feel like it or tension was in the air, and we invited God to be in the center of our marriage. For 30 days, we prayed for each other, for our children, and for our day. It took just a few minutes, but it changed our marriage and we haven't stopped since. Will you take the prayer challenge?

TRUTH TO PONDER: The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. James 5:16

DISCUSS TOGETHER: What keeps us from praying together? What can we practically do to change that? What are the wonderful results of praying together?

TRY THIS: Commit to praying together everyday for one month. Consider: 1) How many minutes a day can we commit to this prayer challenge? 2) Write down a list of things you can focus on. (careers, children, marriage, etc.) 3) It's not a time to pray how you want your spouse to change or to air frustrations, but only prayers to bless, support, and encourage your spouse.
